About Us

130 year-old privately-owned land stewardship organization engaged in sustainable forestry and wood products, outdoor recreation, real estate, mitigation banking, and renewable energy. A strong history of community involvement includes partnering with government agencies and industrial development boards to assist in growing the economy and quality of life opportunities for citizens of West Alabama.

In 1993, Westervelt Communities sold 733 of its active forestry acres to the Alabama Development Office to accommodate the Mercedes-Benz US International, Inc. plant in Vance, Alabama.

We have associations with the Economic Development Partnership of Alabama (EDPA), Tuscaloosa County Industrial Development Authority, the Shelby County Economic & Industrial Development Authority, and the West Alabama Chamber of Commerce. Our organization also recently partnered with the Industrial Development Board of Aliceville to identify and acquire the location for the new Westervelt Renewable Energy wood-fuel pellet mill.
